The Pipe Band has been invited to Beauvais (near Paris) to participate in a major blues festival in March called “Zinc Blues”. We will be playing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the 7th, 8th, and 9th of March. The travel arrangements are as follows: flying from Dublin Airport to Beauvais on Thursday the 6th of March and returning the following Tuesday the 10th. It is hoped to arrange a trip to Disneyland Paris on Monday. There is much excitement about the trip and approximately 40 will be travelling (so far!). The band is delighted to be asked to take part and wish to acknowledge the help & assistance we have received from Aideen Fahy from Achill Sound. Get practising your French!

St Patrick’s Day 2008 will be extra-special for the Pipe Band as it celebrates its 60th Anniversary. There will be a celebratory Dinner-Dance in the Achill Head Hotel on Friday the 14th of March beginning at 8 o’clock. Tickets will be available shortly and are priced at €30. Band practices continue for the big day itself. Fr Kearney has confirmed that the traditional celebration of St Patrick’s Day will go ahead on the date itself – the 17th of March.

We will also be taking part in the Westport Parade which begins at 3.30 pm. Patrick Lavelle has assured us of a warm welcome in Westport.
